This week we take a bit of a detour from our usual cinematography youtube space and into the world of music creation vlogging. Mary spender is a guitarist and singer who also makes vlogs about her experience as an independent artist and everything music.
A big reason i’m writing about her for Vlog of the Week is her attention to detail, quality and storytelling in her videos. This makes for a visually appealing vlog but also interesting to watch. The YouTube landscape is shifting from what used to be a very home video amateur style towards professional filmmaking, which i feel makes the videos produced ever better.
YouTube is a great platform for getting exposure for independent artists. It also gives the audience insight into how they work to produce the music. You really get an idea as to the personality behind the music. I as a person who is interested in music creation found her vlog incredibly interesting as well as educational.
This is one of Mary’s vlogs that stands out for me, it’s her showing the struggle of learning something new on the guitar that is out of your skill level. Which i’m sure we’ve a lot of us have tried and struggled with, i know i have.
