This is, by far, the single best camera I’ve tried at this price point for streaming. Going above this requires a dedicated DSLR and capture hardware, and you’re immediately into £600-700 territory.Out of the box, the Facecam comes with some really solid presets, with the only complaint being that the white balance is a little off on my lights, but then I have a non-ideal setup for background lighting, as I stream in my living room. But once you customise it under your key lighting conditions, it becomes amazing.Manual controls are DSLR-like, you can control shutter times and ISO controls independently to get your desired setup, exposure can be handled automatically with different biases for metering. My setup allows for 1/50s shutter speed to cope with the 50hz mains, and using ISO200, which is close to outdoor/daylight settings for dedicated cameras, with completely bearable key and fill lights, even at 2am.If you’re looking for a webcam for Teams/Zoom, then this is massive amounts of overkill, but if you’re serious about streaming, or content creation in general, this is a fantastic bit of hardware, it does NOT require any other bits in the Elgato ecosystem (lights are lights, after all), and is just brilliant overall.Tripod mounting is a huge benefit as well, get it down off of your monitor, unscrew the monitor mount, and directly screw in a tripod to the bottom.

Excellent. The best webcam available, I believe. Just make sure your room is well lit.

I purchased this camera because my monitors, that I use for photography, didn’t have a built in camera for video conferencing. This is an amazingly good camera that captures quality images for the online meetings. you’ll see the difference between your camera and the others that are using the built in cameras on their monitors….night and day. I also have the El Gato LED lights that work off your phone or computer to light up the work area. All good products.

The video quality is very good. I upgraded from a Logitech camera. What I like about this is the 1080 60 FPS and it had a wide field of view, similar to 4k DSLR cameras. The software is way better than Logitech. You can configure the ISO levels and really customize stuff. In order to get the most value out this you need to upgrade your lighting. I ended up with the elgato ring light, which has good synergy.

Very expensive for a webcam, but the quality easily justifies the price. Works flawlessly on Mac OS – the supplied software is great and easy to use and above all the camera quality is second to none for a webcam

Genuinely didn’t have a clue what quality I would get of video…. I plugged this into my computer to use for streaming…. My God.The colour, quality & clarity of picture was amazing. Definitely overkill for a small overlay for streaming but even so for a general webcam – this little thing packs a punch! The integration with stream deck and other elgato products was key for me but still makes it a legitimate purchase. There’s no autofocus so you get a stable picture at all times without having the picture refocus and adjust throughout your streamGreat product. I think elgato is a bit on the higher end of many budget peripherals but it didn’t disappoint this time that’s for sure.

The camera is amazing and the software makes it god tier. Look at the attached photo for comparison for out the box auto settings vs the c920. The picture settings you can change in the app are amazing with finding the perfect sweet spot for exposure and white balance along with contrast, saturation, Sharpness, zoom and noise reduction. This camera is well worth the upgrade and removes the requirement for an expensive DSLR for streaming!

As a content creator in YouTube I’m always looking for a way to up my game when it comes to making content and the elgato facecam has done just that. This camera is the closest you will get to dslr quality without having to spend hundreds of pounds on a camera setup. It’s easy to set up and get going right out of the box, it offers fantastic picture quality and even manages to do well when you don’t have the best lighting (although if your making content I recommend picking up some lighting)Very happy with this purchase and it’s well worth the money

I bought this camera to replace my existing webcam (Logitech C920).Video – out of the box, in lower light rooms, you’ll need to tweak the software. By default everything is set to auto, you’d need to set your own ISO/shutter speed to dial in the best image quality, but the fact the software lets you do this is awesome. Once setup, it’s pretty good in low light. In regular light/well lit room/daytime, you won’t have to do much/good out of the box for the most part. 4.5/5 (I’m picky)Audio – there is no microphone. I’m good with this, but others might not be.Software/configuration – amazing. On both Mac and Windows, the software is light weight and does everything I want. 5/5Overall – this is expensive, but now that I’m remote working I found it easier to justify the price. If you are seeking professional video quality, you might need to look at a DSLR camera. This is a step below that, and for the price it’s good.

By far the best webcam out there and multiple times better than the top logitech products. I own a Logitech c920 and the quality isn’t even comparable.

Works great, easy to install software and update firmware.Note only works on usb3, others have had problems with camera not working,The usb3 lead that comes with the camera is a bit iffy. I changed my lead to a 3mtr lead as their lead was to short to reach the PC.Can not fault the image quality at1080p 60.You can save the settings to the camera so that every time you use your camera no need to set up the settings again like other camera’s.

Disclaimer, I do own a few Elgatoe bits of gear, and yes, they can be pricey and in most cases cheaper alternatives can exist. But they make good gear. In the case of webcams though, very few exist that are doing it as correct and well designedly, as this one. The main shining light for Elgato and the Facecam gives you full control over ISO, shutter speed and more. And its actually changing what the cam is capturing and not editing it, as an after thought. Full DSLR or mirrlorless like control. But it also is a superb quality image, with a wide view and good (but unadjustable) focal range. It does lack an inbuilt microphone, but most devices you can simply connect mic. to. It may be a bit pricey, but it is worth it. One hang up might be the need to connect it via USB and not USBC, but adapters work.

Mac –
Ridiculously good image quality and ease of use. Fixed focus a big bonus for most applications. 1080p 60fps looks great. The software allows a lot of adjustment too. For example, I found turning off the noise reduction gave better results in most scenarios, unless it was really dark. Awesome that you can save all settings to the camera. Works flawlessly on MacBook Pro.

You might think paying this much money for a webcam is a waste of money, but if you work from home, stream or need high quality video conferencing, this is a very good option. There are ways to re-use existing digital cameras / mirrorless using a combination of tripods, additional dummy batteries, capture cards etc. however I didn’t want to go through the faff of buying all of these extra things for a result that is a lot bulkier and not as convenient.1080p60 is the gold standard. 4K webcams are terrible as they often use super tiny, poor quality sensors and cheap lenses, but jack up the price because – 4K. Most apps only support up to 1080p60 so anything higher is downsampled anyway. The Camera Hub software is great, there are lots of manual controls (ISO, WB, FOV, Exposure) to tweak the camera to your requirements and the camera supports every video conferencing app I use on macOS (FaceTime, Chime, Zoom, Teams, Slack etc.).Camera Hub also runs on Macs with Apple Silicon (e.g. M1, M1 Pro) with no issues.
